The Diocese of Sioux City has partnered with the popular Emily Wilson Ministries to offer a 20% discount to those living within the diocese. The Emily Wilson resources target stages of a young adult’s life from college through engagement, marriage and parenthood.
Emily Wilson is a name familiar to those who have participated in Steubenville youth events, Karmen Bower, director of the Faith Formation Office explained.
“She’s been speaking at Steubenville conferences for quite a few years and has been on the youth ministry circuit,” she said.
Wilson’s Steubenville presence began when she was a young college graduate. Now she is a wife and mother. Bower said Wilson’s messages can resonate with young Catholics.
“She has presented herself as a Catholic friend who can accompany you in the different seasons of your life. She has put together her experiences in a way that’s helpful and reflective for folks,” Bower explained. “Young women are drawn to her because she just seems so normal to them. She’s a very faithful Catholic – her faith is a priority in her life.”
As Wilson serves as “a great model of a faithful Catholic witness as a young woman, Bower reached out to Emily/Wilson Ministries to secure the discount. The discount is only available by accessing the courses through the links on scdiocese.org/emilywilson.
“They are originally $99. That can seem to be a lot for some people but they are really good quality,” she said. “They include videos as well as reflection sheets. They could be used in a group setting for discussion. With the 20% discount we are able to offer to those that live within our diocese, I hope it makes it more accessible.”
