Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City will hold its Spirit of Home for the Holidays fundraiser on Dec. 6.
This is Holy Spirit’s eighth annual Spirit of Home for the Holidays event, which will be held at Country Celebrations Event Center in Sioux City. Last year’s event raised $132,000 for the facility. Funds raised at the upcoming Spirit of Home for the Holidays are earmarked for updating shower and whirlpool facilities, remodeling the second-floor family room and dining areas and assisting to provide activities and entertainment for residents.
The 2024 honorary chair couple are Dan “Leo” and Cris Berger of Sioux City. Dan’s parents Bill and Arlene lived at Holy Spirit for many years and now his aunt and uncle are residents. Their son Patrick serves on the Holy Spirit executive board.
“Many of the Berger family members have enjoyed hosting special potlucks and pizza parties for our residents on special occasions in memory of Bill and Arlene,” noted Deb Poss, director of development and marketing for Holy Spirit.
The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with complimentary social hour, food catered by Aggies, a silent auction as well as a wine, whiskey and cigar pull. Music will be provided by Kelly Quinn.
A short program is slated for 7:30 p.m. Sponsorships are still available along with tickets prices of $50 per person online at holyspiritretirementhome.com. “Spirit of Home for the Holidays is our annual event to both raise funds for our Catholic retirement home and to bring together our supporters, staff and board members to celebrate the care and services we offer at Holy Spirit,” said Dr. Coleen McCarty, Holy Spirit executive director.
Holy Spirit Retirement Home is Siouxland’s only non-profit, faith-based retirement community offering nursing care, assisted living, a secure memory care unit and independent living apartments.
