Mary’s Choice banquet features pro-life advocate Brandy Meeks

Mary’s Choice pregnancy and family resource center of Sioux City is hosting the annual Giving Hope Banquet Oct. 15. The event features guest speaker Brandy Meeks, president of the Vitae Foundation and a leader in the national pro-life movement. Meeks and her husband launched Cornerstone Marketing Strategies to assist pregnancy centers using research-backed digital marketing strategies.
 
Giving Hope Banquet proceeds will fund Mary’s Choice’s efforts in supporting local families who are pregnant or raising children.
 
Executive Director Dawn Grimes said the organization’s annual banquet is a great way for the community to become involved with Mary’s Choice’s mission which is inspired by faith to defend the dignity and worth of every person through advocacy and service.
 
“We provide over 400 families per month with baby items, clothes for the whole family and small household items for free,” Grimes said. “These families have overcome so many obstacles to bring their children into this world and we want to support them.
 
The event will begin with the annual Memorial Mass for Miscarriage and Infant Loss at the Sioux City Cathedral of the Epiphany at 5 p.m. This annual Mass is provided for parents who have lost children due to miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, abortion and other infant fatalities.
 
The evening will continue at Country Celebrations Event Center, 5606 Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City. Doors will open at 5:30 pm.
 
In addition to the presentation by Meeks, the Giving Hope event includes a dinner, silent auction and opportunities to donate to Mary’s Choice.
 
Funds raised during the event will be used to provide free services and material support to Sioux City area families, including pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, options counseling and local referrals, baby items, clothing for the whole family and small household items.
