(Dahm Media photo) Sacred Heart, a Gothic style brick church, was constructed and furnished at the approximate cost of $15,000. It was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on July 30, 1899. Sacred Heart is now part of St. Mary Parish, based in Storm Lake.
The 125years will be commemorated Aug. 4 at Sacred Heart Church in Early with a Mass at 1 p.m., with pastor Father Brent Lingle presiding.
Clergy serving the parish in the past will be invited to join Father Lingle in celebrating the Mass for this special occasion.
Following the Mass, refreshments will be served in the parish center. At the same time, music will be provided by Sisters & Strings Infusion of Kansas City from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Weather permitting, narrated cemetery tours will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Those choosing to participate in the tour will learn about the forefathers of the parish. A trolly will be available to transport guests to and from the cemetery.
