Children's author visit Storm Lake St. Mary School

St. Mary's School in Storm Lake welcomed Deb Mortensen, a children's author, to the school last month.  

Mortensen is a retired teacher who used her own personal experience in working with students to create a wonderful children's book titled "Not Me."

It is a story about a young man who makes many mistakes in his school day and wants to "fess up" and tell the truth but struggles thanks to a little "pal" on his shoulder. 

She read her book aloud to our elementary classes, instilling some good reminders about the importance of telling the truth and taking responsibility for their actions.  

"Not Me" is written by Mortensen and illustrated by Carissa Harris.  It is published through Miriam Laundry Publishing.
