Bishop Keehner statement on selection of Pope Leo XIV

Bishop John E. Keehner has released the following statement in English and Spanish upon the selection of our new American Holy Father:
 
I am pleased to learn of the selection of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as Pope Leo XIV, who is a holy man who will lead us with strong faith and humility. We realize this was a monumental task for the cardinals to select the next Holy Father to lead the Church and we trust that they did so prayerfully with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I ask the faithful of the Diocese of Sioux City to join me in praying for our new pope as he begins his role as Vicar of Christ, sharing the Gospel message. 
 
Me complace enterarme de la elección del Cardenal Robert Francis Prevost como Papa Leo XIV, que es un hombre santo que nos guiará con fuerte fe y humildad. Nos damos cuenta de que fue una tarea monumental para los cardenales seleccionar al próximo Santo Padre para dirigir la Iglesia y confiamos en que lo hicieron en oración con la guía del Espíritu Santo. Pido a los fieles de la Diócesis de Sioux City que se unan a mí para orar por nuestro nuevo Papa al comenzar su papel como Vicario de Cristo, compartiendo el mensaje del Evangelio.
