Divine Mercy Catholic Parish invites all first responders and military to their Blue Mass. The Blue Mass is a tradition where the police, fire and EMS first responders gather for a special celebration and blessing for their work on behalf of the community.
Deacon David Penton said, "I have worked in public safety, corrections, fire, rescue, hospital and emergency management services for over 25 years. They are not easy jobs and are sometimes heartbreaking and soul-crushing. When I am asked about the worst things I have seen, it's humanity, what people are willing to do to each other. The best part, the humanity, what people are willing to do for each other. We as responders don't hold back in the times we are called, and we are in need of all the ammo and protection we can get. This Blue Mass is priceless in the efforts of the work we do. To have community gather in the presence of Jesus Christ and offer prayers and sacrifice for us and with us, fortifies our armor in the time we need it most."
