Sister Rosemunda Besch, BVM, 92, of Mount Carmel Bluffs, 1160 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, died Aug. 20, 2024.
Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27, in the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel at Mount Carmel Bluffs. Sharing of Memories will be at 9:30 a.m. followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Sister Mary Rosemunda was born on May 13, 1932, in Sioux City to John and Rose Treiweiler Besch. She entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1950, from St. Michael Parish, Sioux City. She professed first vows on March 19, 1953, and final vows on July 16, 1958.
Sister Rosemunda was an elementary teacher and librarian at St. Michael in Sioux City. She also taught at Sacred Heart in Boone; St. John-St. Andrew in Meire Grove, Minnesota; St. Catherine and St. Aloysius in Kansas City, Missouri; St. Bridget in Omaha, Nebraska; Our Lady Help of Christians and St. Vincent in Chicago and St. Bernard in Los Angeles. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Anna Besch, Elizabeth (William) Rossmar, Marcella (Merwyn) Hamm and Veronica (William) Little; brothers Matthew, Nicklaus, Lawrence (Hildegard), Leonard, Herman (Lois), Benedict (LaVerne) and Clarence (Alice) Besch. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 73 years.
