Irene (Sullivan) Pyle of Sioux City, a long-time parishioner of St. Boniface Church, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Nov. 15.
She was born Nov. 15, 1924 in Ponca, Nebraska and married Donald Pyle on Sept. 25, 1948 at St. Michael Church in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He died in 1996. Irene was a schoolteacher by profession, beginning her career in a one-room schoolhouse in about 1945 and winding down teaching just about 15 years as a substitute for the Catholic school in Sioux City.
The couple had six children: Dave (Sheryl) Pyle, Darlene who died in 2012 (Jim) Salmen, Donna Rosberg (Gary), Dennis Pyle, Teresa Butrous (Rick) and Lisa (John) Tritz. Irene has 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
