Staff from the MercyOne Siouxland Foundation and Sterling in Sioux City joined forces April 9 to tie blankets for children served by the MercyOne Siouxland Child Advocacy Center.
MercyOne Siouxland Child Advocacy Center, the only one of its kind in Western Iowa, plays a vital role in assisting law enforcement and the courts in child abuse investigations. It provides a safe space for the abused to tell their story, ensuring their safety and protecting their dignity. Blankets and other comfort items are provided to the children who are clients at the center.
Torri Ricke, Director of the MercyOne Child Advocacy Center, is extremely appreciative for Sterling’s participation in this event, “We are grateful that the employees at Sterling are taking time out of their workday to help bring comfort to the clients we serve.”
“Sterling has always believed in showing up for our community in meaningful ways,” said Jean Moore, Owner of Sterling. “Through our partnership with United Way and the MercyOne Foundation, we’re honored to support the MercyOne Child Advocacy Center and the work they do to bring safety, comfort, and healing to vulnerable children. Our team was especially excited to get involved directly by making tie blankets, a small gesture that we hope brings comfort when it’s needed most,” says Jean Moore, owner of Sterling.
The MercyOne Siouxland Foundation exists to support the mission of MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center by generating and providing resources and promoting community involvement. Gifts to the MercyOne Siouxland Foundation establish or enhance programs like the MercyOne Child Advocacy Center, improve or build facilities and purchase equipment that would otherwise be unavailable due to budget constraints. The focus of the Foundation is on improving service to patients.
