Briar Cliff University is proud to announce the upcoming Sister Muriel Ford Lecture, featuring guest speaker and Briar Cliff alum Barb Newhouse, as part of the celebration of 50 years of accreditation for the Social Work Program. The lecture, titled “Embracing the Change Agent Within,” will take place on March 28 and is free and open to students, professionals, and community members.
The Sister Muriel Ford Lectureship was established by Briar Cliff alumni to honor Sister Muriel Ford, a dedicated advocate for social justice, former chairperson of the sociology department, and a long-serving director of alumni relations. Her legacy continues to inspire Briar Cliff’s commitment to social work and community engagement.
“Without Sister Muriel Ford, we would not have a Social Work Program at Briar Cliff, let alone be celebrating 50 years of accreditation,” said Margarite Reinhardt, Director and Chair of the Social Work Program. “Her unwavering dedication to social justice laid the foundation for what has become a thriving, impactful program.”
A Lecture to Inspire Change Barb Newhouse’s lecture, “Embracing the Change Agent Within,” will explore the role of social workers and community advocates in driving meaningful change.
