School may not yet be in session for the fall, but diocesan Office of Catholic Schools are preparing pastors and administrators for the 2024-25 academic year. Orientation sessions were held at the Central Catholic Offices in Sioux City July 30 and 31.
Catholic Schools Superintendent Patty Lansink explained Day 1 of the orientation was designed for pastors and new administrators “to help with relationship building and getting to know each other.” Day 2 of the orientation was for the new administrators.
Orientation topics were developed to assist the administrators and pastors in their roles leading the Catholic schools’ efforts. “With the pastors and administrators, we talked about mission, roles and responsibilities. And we do a personality profile so they know how each other ‘ticks,’” Lansink said. “With administrators, we cover everything but the kitchen sink – being a faith leader, staff evaluation, academic initiatives, school boards, federal programs and entry plans for their buildings (and others).”
New administrators in the diocesan Catholic schools for 2024-25 include:
Bishop Heelan Cathedral Dual Language Academy, Sioux City - Jodi Ferris
Bishop Heelan Sacred Heart School, Sioux City - Erin Chute
